I think you did a great job putting this PD together. Fluency is very important for emergent and developing students. You discussed strategies like echo reading, repeat reading , and partner reading while adding video clips to show these strategies. It gave a clear example of what they look like. I will be using this as a source.

  2. Hi Caitlin,

I truly love your presentation. It is very useful and it was great to see physical examples of echo reading and partner reading. Fluency is an important component of reading along with comprehension. Without fluency students can not have comprehension of text if they are struggling to read words with easy and confidence. I can not wait to these strategies in my own classroom. Thank you.

  3. Caitlin, I really enjoyed your PD! I especially liked that you added videos since that will really help me better remember the strategies you presented. I already use some of the strategies you presented and I have started to implement other strategies like echo reading but definitely gave me a different perspective or way of introducing a strategy. Thank you.

  4. Caitlin, after watching your PD I have wrote down some new strategies to use to help my kids who are struggling with fluency. Echo reading is one strategy I seem to over look when teaching fluency, I have to implement echo reading with those students who still continue to struggle.

  5. Hi Caitlin,

Fluency is definitely a topic many elementary students struggle to master. I believe that Echo Reading a strategy you recommended to build fluency amongst students is definitely something I am going to look into. I love the example you incorporated into your presentation. It definitely allowed me to have a better understanding of what my responsibility is in order to effectively teach echo reading. This strategy is also useful for ESL students due to the fact that can begin to listen to the pronunciation of the words during a read aloud. In addition, Partner Reading is definitely a strategy I implement with my Kindergarteners as an "early finisher" in the classroom. The kiddos love it and I definitely have seen an increase in motivation to read amongst them. It is exciting to see students grow a love for reading!
